Amino Acids

What are 24 amino acids found in animal tissue?
Of these 24 amino acids that are important? Where are the abbreviations? I was looking for tried for a while to find the answers, but have no success. My textbook does not enumerate.
There are only 20 amino acids found in animals not 24. The Humans and other mammals, but only half of them to be synthesized. You can not synthesize isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, Tryptophan and valine. These are the essential amino acids because it is important to take them. Mammals do have to synthesize the enzymes alanine, asparagine, aspartate, Cysteine, glutamate, glutamine, glycine, proline, serine and tyrosine, the essential amino acids. While they can synthesize arginine and histidine, they can not produce them in sufficient quantities for young, growing animals, and these are often considered essential amino acids.

Excitatory Amino Acids $235 Glutamate is the major excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain and dysfunction of glutamate transmission is the likely cause of a variety of diseases including neurodegeneration following cerebral ischemia, Huntington’s chorea, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, epilepsy, spasticity, emesis, chronic pain, and schizophrenia. Excitatory amino acid receptor agonists and antagonists are therefore of major interest as potential drugs for central nervous system disorders. Excitatory Amino Acids is the first book entirely dedicated to the results of human testing of modulators of excitatory amino acid neurotransmitters. Features include: * Coverage of the field of excitatory amino acids from synaptic function to preclinical and clinical pharmacology * Description of the development of NMDA ( N methyl- d -aspartate) and non-NMDA antagonists * Reports of potential drugs in early and late clinical stages of development. |

Enantioselective Synthesis of Beta-Amino Acids $209.99 Covers all facets of the synthesis of ?-amino acids As evidenced by an exponential increase in the literature published on the subject, interest in ?-amino acids has grown over the past several years. With major pharmaceutical applications, these amino acids are now studied across multiple lines of research, including combinatorial chemistry, medicinal chemistry, molecular design, proteomics, and others. This Second Edition of Enantioselective Synthesis of ?-Amino Acids updates reviews included in the First Edition while also covering new developments since its publication. The book presents detailed discussions of the most important methods for the synthesis of ?-amino acids. In most cases, the lead chemist who originally developed a method provides an authoritative description of it. In addition, Enantioselective Synthesis of ?-Amino Acids, Second Edition: * Features introductory overviews on the structural types of relevant ?-amino acid targets and salient ?-amino acids present in natural products * Dedicates several chapters to advances in the synthesis of oligomers from ?-amino acids * Includes general and practical procedures for the preparation of ?-amino acids in each chapter * Discusses the most important methods that have been recently developed for the asymmetric synthesis of cyclic and open-chain ?-amino acids * Includes a report on the preparation of libraries of enantiopure ?-amino acids using combinatorial approaches The only book of its kind available today, Enantioselective Synthesis of ?-Amino Acids, Second Edition offers upper-level students and professionals an essential resource for pharmaceutical development, medicinal chemistry, and biochemistry. |

Non-Natural Amino Acids $182 By combining the tools of organic chemistry with those of physical biochemistry and cell biology, ‘Non-Natural Amino Acids’ aims to provide fundamental insights into how proteins work within the context of complex biological systems of biomedical interest. This volume brings together the tools and principles of chemistry with the molecules and processes of living cells to create molecules with new properties and functions found neither in nature nor in the test tube. By studying the structure and function of these resulting molecules, new insights can be gained into the molecular mechanisms of complex biological and chemical systems. Demonstrates how the tools and principles of chemistry combined with the molecules and processes of living cells can be combined to create molecules with new properties and functions found neither in nature nor in the test tube. By studying the structure and function of non-natural molecules, new insights can be gained into the molecular mechanisms of complex biological and chemical systems. Provides a “one-stop shop” for tried and tested essential techniques, eliminating the need to wade through untested or unreliable methods |

User’s Guide to Protein and Amino Acids $9.99 In the post-Atkins world of nutrition and diet, protein has become one of the most misunderstood nutrients. Protein is broken down during digestion and later restructured to make the proteins and enzymes the body needs for life. Protein consists of amino acids, which are used in the construction of neurotransmitters, hormones, muscle, and other tissues. In this User's Guide, Dr. Keri Marshall demystifies protein and amino acids and explains how readers can use them to enhance their health. |

Quantitation of Amino Acids and Amines by Chromatography $335 Quantitation of Amino Acids and Amines by Chromatography: Methods and Protocols is intended to serve as a ready-to-use guide for the identification and quantification of amino acids and amines in various matrices, providing an overview on the theory and protocol of available methods. It presents chromatograms with exact elution programs enabling visual analysis and compares the advantages-disadvantages of various chromatographic techniques. In accordance with the chronological order of the development of chromatographic methods, different techniques are discussed: The possibilities of gas chromatography (GC), followed by those of the high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and the most recent techniques capillary electrophoresis (CE), capillary, electrochromatography (CEC). The characteristics of the given chromatographic procedure, relating to the topic in question, are classified according to the preliminary preparation/derivatization process(es), which means the simple methods, suitable for the analysis of the selected compound(s) in natural form, are followed by various derivatization proposals. Detailed protocols provide the reader with guidance in beginning tasks and on how to improve current methods. This book appeals to a wide audience and is recommended for those looking towards the wider reaches of identification and quantification of amino acids and amines. * Provides a systematic, and comprehensive summary of chromatographic techniques and derivatization processes * Compares advantages/disadvantages of various chromatographic techniques * Readers can undertake practical tasks using detailed protocols given in the book |

Now Foods Branched Chain Amino Acids 240Caps $43.99 Of the eight essential amino acids that cannot be produced by the body, the three branched-chain amino acids, Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine, are of key importance. Based on their unique structure, activity, storage, and metabolism, BCAA’s have become a staple in the lives of many athletes and physically active individuals. They account for nearly one-third of the amino acids in muscle protein. Unlike other amino acids, BCAA’s are not metabolized in the liver, but rather in muscle fibers where they are then made available. To encourage ideal results, NOW Branched Chain Amino Acids are formulated in the nutritionist-recommended 2:1:1 ratio and are USP-grade. |
